A New Algorithm for Improving the Performance of Smart Antenna and Joint Detection in 3G Communication System

摘要 依据 2 0 0 1年 3月 ITU发布的最新版本 Release4,论述了我国提出的 3G标准——TD- SCDMA的体系结构、系统优势、技术特点和发展前景等 ,重点研究了在 TD- SCDMA系统中联合优化使用智能天线和多用户联合检测技术的原理和方法 ,并在 3GPP规定的环境下对其进行了仿真 ,结果表明所研究的算法满足系统性能要求 。 Smart antenna and joint detection are the key techniques in the third generation (3G) communication system, but their algorithms are too complicated to meet the requirement of real time processing . We present a new algorithm to solve the problem. In existing algorithms, joint detection is carried out for each element of the smart antenna separately. In our algorithm, as illustrated in Figure 1, we first integrate the matrices of all the elements of the smart antenna into a single system matrix, then we carry out joint detection on this system matrix. Because the system matrix is a sparse Hermitian matrix, the computation overhead is greatly reduced. Simulation results show that, for the same system performance , the computation overhead of our algorithm is only 40% of the existing algorithm. Therefore, our algorithm can meet the requirement for real-time processing.
