The fundamental principle of the function of quality loss which is involved in the process of CAD is expounded in this paper. By applying the principle and taking the No. 208 centripetal ball bearing made by a ball bearing factory of Hunan as an example, the bearing quality loss caused by the assembly quality is analyzed quantitatively, and the theoretical basis for the quality control of assembling tolerance is provided. Meanwhile, the possibilities in applying the function of quality loss to other fields are proposed.
