A rapid, accurate spectrophotometric method of determining the amounts of indigo on dyed yarns and fabrics was presented. The indigo dyed fibre or fabric was dissolved with concentrated sulphuric acid. The solution was analyzed spectrophometrically. The accuracy of this method was comparable with the traditional pyridine extraction procedure. This new method is speedy, accurate and easy to manipulate.
