An experiment was carried out to study the feasibility of irrigating with 7 g/L saline water. The results showed that soil salt content would increase after an irrigation, but not exceed the salinity tolerance of cotton. After the rainy seasons, soil salinization was not obvious. Furthermore, where the cotton is irrigated with 7 g/L saline water and fresh water alternatively and mulched with wheat straw, the cotton yield was only 4.2% less than one on the field irrigated with only fresh water.
