From the practical point of view,this paper discusses the importance of teaching phonetics and the necessity of taking the students as the dominant factor while undergoing the intensive English programme on listening and speaking and also points out the feasibibility to guide the training by using the cognitive theory. We also must pay more attention to mobilizing the enthusiasm of the students and cultivating their ability to analyse and solve problems.
