Objective To explore the effect of toxoplasma gondii and cytomegalovirus infection on pregnant outcomes and the effect of abnormal pregnant outcome on infant development. Methods 50 women with abno rmal pregnant outcome were paired with 100 normal pregnancy women and tested for TOX IgM/IgG and CMV IgM/IgG with ELISA in their serum. 36 infants with abnormalities including low birth weight, premature, low Apgar score and IUGR, compared with 72 normally born infants, were evaluated using Gesell developmental scales. Results Present infection rate in the case group was significantly hig her than the control group. The infants of the abnormal outcome group had lower DQ.Conclusion The results showed that infections occurring in pregna ncy had adverse effect and we should reinforce surveillance before and during pregnancy. We should also take early intervention to promote the development of premature, low birth weight, IUGR and asphyxia child.
