The ECOMOG's Peacekeeping Actions in West Africa and The Theoretical Debate around Them

西共体组建维和部队干预利比里亚和塞拉利昂内战 ,在维护西非地区的和平与安全方面取得了一定成功。西非维和行动是在联合国及非统组织无力解决而西方国家又不愿卷入非洲地区冲突的情势下 ,由西非国家依靠自身力量解决本地区冲突的一次尝试。但维和行动是否违反不干涉内政原则。

To some degree, ECOMOG in Liberia and Sierra Leone has achieved some success in terms of maintaining peace and security in West Africa. Since the UN and the OAU were unable to resolve and the western countries unwilling to get involved in African conflicts, the West African countries tried to resolve the regional conflicts with their own capability. However, the actions have initiated some theoretical debate on whether the actions violate the non-interference principle and whether they have legitimacy.
