朱山坡的小说创作从故乡粤桂边城出发,建构出一个与粤桂边城有着相同气质的文学乡土世界。在人物形象上,朱山坡主要书写非主流的底层人物,使其小说呈现出有别于主流英雄叙事的边缘之美。在故事情节上,朱山坡重点讲述非常态的极端事件,把环境设置得极为困顿,将人物推向不可挽回的绝境中,使其小说体现出一种绝望之美。在小说结构上,朱山坡通过大转折的情节发展和带有诡异之气的结局,形成极具个人化标签的奇崛美。

The novels of Shanpo Zhu start from the frontier towns along the boundary between Guangdong province and GuangxiZhuang Autonomous Region and the stories create a literary local world sending forth the same odor of the towns. Most of the Zhu?scharacters are at the bottom stratum of the non-mainstream culture and they render the novels a beauty of marginality different fromthe mainstream epic stories. In plotting,Zhu mainly depicts the extreme incidents traps the characters up in extremely hard situationsand tangles them in desperate hazards, and all these render the novels a beauty of desperation. In structure,Zhu’s novels arecharacterized by their unexpected shifts and singular endings which render them a peculiar beauty of strangeness.
