Minimum magnitude of completeness for earthquake catalogues in Xinjiang region

最小完整性震级M_c是表征测震台网监测能力的重要参数,本研究采用"完整性震级范围"(EMR)方法,分"九五"和"十五"两阶段分析2001年1月1日到2015年9月30日新疆地区地震目录M_c空间分布特征,并使用Bootstrap方法,评估M_c不确定度δM_c。分析结果表明,M_c空间分布不均匀,与地震台站分布密度基本一致。此外,多数地区的δM_c≤0.2个震级单位,空间分布不均匀。"十五"以来新疆地区M_c值普遍减小,表明新疆测震台网地震监测能力得到有效提升。

The minimum magnitude of completeness Mc reflects the network monitoring capability. For the 2 development periods (“the ninth five-year plan” and “the tenth five-year plan”) of Xinjiang Seismic Network, we used the entire-magnitude-range (EMR) method to study the spatial distribution of minimum magnitude of completeness Mc in Xinjiang region from Jan. 1, 2001 to Sep. 30, 2015. Bootstrap testing are also performed to estimate the uncertainty of Mc. This results show that the distribution of Mc is spatially inhomogeneous, and the spatial distributions of Mc are consistent with the distributions of stations. Moreover, the uncertainties of minimum magnitude of completeness δMc ≤ 0.2, and its distribution is also spatially inhomogeneous. The value of Mc is generally decrease after “the tenth five-year plan”, which indicated that the monitoring capability of Xinjiang Seismic Network had been significantly improved.
