跨文化语境下中西方文化差异对大学英语词汇教学的启示

The Enlightenment of Chinese and Western Cultural Differences in Vocabulary Teaching of College English in the Context of Cross-culture

随着科技和经济的发展,全球化成为必然趋势,在这种背景下,不同文化的民族和国家之间相互交流也变得越来越频繁。英语作为一门在世界范围内被广泛应用的语言,其重要性不言而喻。在大学英语教学中,文化差异也无处不在,尤其是在语言三大要素之一的词汇中,中西方文化差异会带来词汇文化内涵的不同,因此,如何在跨文化语境下将中西方文化差异引入大学英语词汇教学具有现实的价值和意义。作者基于大学英语教学的当前现状,深入分析了大学英语课堂中中西方文化在词汇层面的差异表现,从词义交汇词、词义空缺词、词义冲突词三种文化负载词列举了英汉词汇的不同文化涵义。鉴于此,针对不同类型的词汇提出了文化教学策略,以达到大学生学习英语词汇的最终目的。

Along with the development of science, technology and economy, globalization has become an inevitable trend. Under the context,the exchanges between different cultures have become more and more frequent. As a widely used language in the world, English is becoming more and more important. In college English teaching, cultural differences are everywhere, especially in the vocabulary,one of the three elements of a language; and the Chinese and English cultural differences make different cultural connotations; therefore,how to introduce the Chinese and English cultural differences into vocabulary teaching of college English in the cross-cultural context is of great significance or value. On the basis of the current situation of college English teaching, the author of this paper makes a deep analysis of the Chinese and English cultural differences in terms of vocabulary and lists different cultural connotations of English and Chinese words from three kinds of culturally-loaded words, that is, intersecting semantic words, semantic gap words and conflicting semantic words. For that reason, different strategies of cultural teaching are raised as to different types of words, achieving the aim at making undergraduates learn English vocabulary.
