摘要
天气是人类的基本经验之一,天气现象是日常生活中的基本现象,当我们借助熟悉的天气现象来理解、思考其他范畴时,便形成了天气隐喻化。以语料库为研究工具,通过对比英汉天气词汇语义映射,旨在研究文化在隐喻构建中的作用,说明隐喻也是一种文化现象。
Weather is a familiar natural phenomenon around us. Being a reflection of one of our basicexperiences, weather terms are often employed to describe and explain other concepts metaphorically, thusforming weather metaphors.This paper makes a comparison and contrast between English and Chinese weathermetaphors so as to explore the function of culture in the construction of metaphors.In doing so,a corpus-basedapproach is adopted.The paper concludes that metaphor is also a cultural phenomenon.
