A Literature Review of English Translation of the Tongcheng School Prose

桐城派散文英译活动的研究与我国政府大力推进的中国文化走出去战略相契合。通过桐城派散文英译成果的梳理,总结目前研究存在的问题与不足,并针对性地提出今后研究的思路与方法,以期提高桐城派散文英译质量与海外传播效果,补充中国古典艺术散文英译的短板,深化典籍英译的研究。

The Tongcheng school prose represents the historical development of classical Chinese artistic essays and related studies on its English translation are in accordance with Chinese culture going global, a strategy strongly advocated by the Chinese government.Based on a survey of the English translations of the Tongcheng school prose, the paper summarizes the problems in present studies and proposes research ideas and methods accordingly, hoping to improve English translation quality and the overseas effects of the Tongcheng school prose, overcome the deficiency in the English translation of classical Chinese artistic essays and deepen the research of Chinese classics.
