Cultural Imagery in Classical Chinese Poetry and Chinese-English Poetic Translation

本文首先对意象进行了简单的阐述，指出意象的传达在诗歌翻译中的重要性，然后介绍了中国古诗中常用的文化意象及其文化联想意义，并通过举例对诗歌的不同英译本进行分析并提出英译中国古诗时可采用的两种方法。

The present paper sets out by giving a general in?troduction to imagery,pointing out the importance of conveyingimagery in translation.Then it talks about the cultural imageryfrequently used in classical Chinese poetry and its associativemeaning.Finally the paper tentatively suggests two possible meth?ods that may be helpful in translating the cultural imagery in clas?sical Chinese poetry.
