在丧葬礼仪方面,孔子强调哀戚情感的真实表达而不是崇尚外在的礼仪形式;强调"丧致乎哀而止",反对以死伤生、残生送死的过分矫情。在丧葬的物质耗费上,孔子崇尚节俭反对僭越厚葬,主张以礼制为标准来节制丧葬的规模,要"称家之有亡"使之无过无不及。在葬祭的对象上,孔子对生前死后与鬼神有无问题悬而不论,强调丧葬祭祀的道德教化功能。这些思想对于我们今天殡葬政策的制定、殡葬改革的推进、殡葬管理与服务水平的提升,都具有诸多的启发。
