On the Credulity and Efficiency of Spoken English Test by Computer

近年来,伴随着大学英语教学改革的力度不断加大,作为综合素质体现的英语口语测试在国内高校受到越来越多的重视。机考测试形式省时省力,因此越来越多的高校采用了此种形式,而这种形式也受到了许多高校的接纳与欢迎,并以此作为测试的主要手段。但与此同时,我们必须承认,与传统的人考相比,机考虽有它的优势,但其局限与弊端也是显而易见的。事实上,任何一种测试方式都不是完美的,决不可偏薄一方,只有将两者有机地结合运用,才能有效测试出大学生的实际语言能力与水平。

Over the past few years,along with the deepening reform of English education,the test of spoken English,which is considered as a comprehensive reflection of language ability,has been drawing more and more focus. In line with the tide,the oral test by computer,which is employed at present as a main means to test the interviewees' spoken proficiency,is enjoying its popularity among colleges or universities,since it can be of a great help to promote interviewers' testing efficiency. However,it has to be admitted that its credulity,in spite of its high efficiency,has invited much doubt from the interviewees and such result of oral English test seems rather unsatisfactory as far as the interviewees areconcerned. Hence,how to integrate face–to-face interview credulity with computer test high efficiency so as to test outthe interviewee's real language capacity seems to be urgently open,necessary and significant in oral English testing program.
