A Preliminary Exploration of Zhang Xiaoxiang's Graceful and Restrained Ci

张孝祥是南宋重要的词人。历来对他的词作研究都着眼于其豪放词,尤其是爱国词,而缺乏对张孝祥婉约词的研究。张孝祥的婉约词有其深厚的思想渊源,理学盛行的时代背景对他的词作产生了深远的影响,呈现出"尚理""尚雅"两个创作倾向,并渗透了禅宗思想;张孝祥婉约词分为宴饮闺情词、相思爱情词和写景咏物词三个部分;张孝祥所处时代背景及在词学思想上的倾向最终都汇总到他的婉约词风之中,体现为清空旷达、俊逸缥缈和雅化的艺术特征。

Zhang Xiaoxiang isan important Ci poet of the Southern Song Dynasty.Researches have always been conducted on his Ci, focusing on his unconstrained Ci, especially his patriotic Ci. However, there has been a lack of research on his graceful and restrained Ci. Actually, Zhang Xiaoxiang’s graceful and restrained Ci has its profound ideological origin. The historical background, against which Neo-Confucianism prevailed, exerted a far-reaching impact on him, finally presenting his two creation tendencies of upholding“neo-Confucianism”,“elegance”as well as“Zen Thought”. His graceful and restrained Ci is divided into three parts: drinking Ci, love Ci and scenery Ci.Zhang Xiaoxiang’s time and his thoughttendency towards Ci are both reflected in his graceful and restrained Ci style, which embodies the artistic characteristics of broad-mindedness, mistiness and elegance.
