为外教在中国安个家——越秀外国语学院外教社区管理探索

Yuexiu's Foreign Teachers Community

浙江越秀外国语学院（以下简称“越秀”）坐落于鲁迅故乡——绍兴，是一所开设11个外语专业和20余个涉外专业的外国语学院。越秀自1999年开始招收外籍教师，近年来一直在大力增加外籍教师的数量，推动师资国际化工作的进程。2011至2016年间，越秀共引进了600余人次的外籍教师，其中2016年度达到120人。这些外籍教师来自24个国家，主要来自美国、韩国、日本、西班牙、加拿大和英国等。年龄在35岁以下的青年外籍教师占比近半，35-60岁之间的占36%，60岁以上占16%。具有研究生或以上学位的占68%，其中18位教师获博士学位。外籍教师在两个不同的校区面向400多个班级，教授包括教育学、国际贸易、跨国管理、体育及各语种课程，成为教学一线的重要力量。

Zhejiang's Yuexiu University of Foreign Languages has 27 foreign language majors, including English, French, German, Russian, Spanish. As of 2016, Yuexiu had 120 foreign teachers. Working in China, many foreign teachers have difficulties integrating and teaching. For example, Roland from Germany doesn't like to work at weekends near the National Day holiday. Yuexiu established a Community for Foreign Teachers, organizing potluck dinners, parties, teaching seminars, and also providing Chinese courses. Marjorie from America was in charge of Community events for about a year. She chose her successor before leaving and said: 'Many foreign teachers came to Yuexiu because of our warm community, it is our own home.'
