A Study of the Military Transportation of Feihu Road in Han Dynasty

飞狐道是连接内蒙古高原和华北平原的重要通路,飞狐口、飞狐关皆位于飞狐道上,它们与紫荆关、五阮关、倒马关、隘口等关卡共同形成一个防御体系。飞狐道的形成是一个历史发展的过程。先秦时已经有飞狐道的交通路线雏形,而汉代飞狐道则是汉匈交战的必争之地。光武帝时修治飞狐道是为了防备匈奴和卢芳势力的军事威胁,其路线当自代郡至平城,并没有北通汉上谷郡郡治沮阳县。

Feihu Road was an important channel connecting the Inner Mongolia plateau and the North China Plain. Feihukou and Feihu Pass were located in the Feihu Road, which formed a defense system with Zijing Pass,Wuruan Pass, Daoma Pass and Aikou. The formation of Feihu Road was a historical development process. Feihu Road traffic prototype had been formed in the pre-Qin period, and became an important battlefield in the war between Han and Huns. At the time of Emperor Guangwu, the repair of Feihu Road was in order to prevent the military threat from Huns and Lufang, the route should be from Dai Prefecture to Pingcheng, and not to the capital of Shanggu Prefecture.
