One with Ambitions and Knowledge Can Write Exquisite Descriptions—— A Brief Account of Fang Rujin's Research of Song Dynasty

方如金先生是著名宋史研究专家,在宋史研究领域,有着较大影响力。由于时代原因,方如金先生大好青春年华,无法从容进行学术研究。但他矢志不渝,"文革"结束后,他抓住机遇,全力投入宋史研究,尤其以对陈亮和浙东学派的研究知名于学界。方先生师法乾嘉诸老,文献考证与理论阐发并举,从目录学入手研究学术问题,且寓深邃的理论思辨于扎实的文献考证之中,其学术专长为陈亮研究、南宋浙东学派研究、浙江地方史研究。在进行教学和研究的同时,他还积极地保持与韩国、美国等多所高校宋史研究学者密切的学术交流,开启了中外宋史研究合作、交流的新篇章。

As a famous expert in the history of Song Dynasty, Professor Fang Rujin has a great influence in this field. Due to the reason everyone knows at that time, Professor Fang Rujin could not make academic study when he was young. Although he suffered setbacks, professor Fang also persisted in his studies year by year. After the end of the Cultural Revolution, he seized the opportunity and concentrated himself on the research of Song Dynasty history, especially on the study of Chen Liang and East Zhejiang School well-known in academia. Professor Fang learned from Qian-Jia school in the field of textual research and theoretical analysis and he also studied on academic issues from bibliography to academic problems through the method of profound theoretical speculation rooted in solid document research. His academic expertise tends to the study of Chen Liang, the East Zhejiang School in Southern Song Dynasty and Zhejiang local history research. In addition to his teaching and researching, he also actively maintained academic exchanges closely with the scholars of Song Dynasty history research from South Korea, the United States as well as many colleges and universities abroad. And therefore his research opened a new chapter in the cooperations and exchanges of the Song Dynasty history research between China and foreign countries.
