Modernity is an“artifi cial”rational operating mechanism and mode that formed by disembodying itselffrom nature,and in fact,the practical logic of the modernity is hidden in the pulse of the historical materialism,andit is displayed through the urban space’s formation and change of19th century.David Harvey’s interpretation ofthe historical geography of Paris city shows the practical logic of the Modernity,which lies from“statement”toOsman’s“triangular measuring tower”,and from the space action to the space language.In Harvey’s picture ofgeography space,the modernity is not only a kind of descriptive picture,but also a creative destruction by itself;themodernity not only has a feature of rupture,but also a characteristic of continuity;the modernity is not only the fi eldof the conspiracy of capital and space,but also its outcome.All of this have constructed the correlations between themodernity of Harvey and Paris,and also have sketched the practical texture of modernity.
