Unlike the traditional novel which organizes a plot to push forward the progress of a novel,Mrs.Dalloway is not organized in a linear way.Props such as the party,Big Ben play a vital role in the structuring of the novel.Woolf depicts every character's stream of consciousness around these props and thus compares and reveals the characters’different inner worlds and personalities. As a result, the portraying of the characters is threedimensional and complete. The novel becomes poetical. However, the readers are not very pleased with and don’t understand well this kind of stream-of-consciousness novels.
