法与式:有法无法?有式无式?

Rules and Models: Rules or No Rules, Models or No Models

法式研究一直是中国传统建筑、园林研究的重要内容之一。自陈从周先生在《说园》中提出了造园"有法无式"一说起,已经广泛为园林学界所接受。在其他学者的著作和论文中,还可以看到"无法而法"、"一法多式"等说法。本文试图梳理"法"与"式"的词源、含义,剖析有关学者对"法"与"式"的表达,探讨中国园林法与式的关系,以期促进对中国园林法式问题的讨论。

Fa(Rule)Shi(Model)is an important fi eld in traditional Chinese architecture and garden research.Since Prof.Chen Congzhou put forward that Chinese Gardening had rules but no specifi c models in his book On Chinese Gardens,this claim has been widely acceptedby landscape architecture academia.There are some other claims in other scholars’books orpapers,like“no rules as rules”and“one rule with many models”.Focusing on the relationship between Fa and Shi,this paper tries to fi gure out the literal origins of Fa and Shi,their changes and meanings,and analyzes academia’s thoughts to Fa and Shi,in order to promote discussions on Fa and Shi in Chinese garden.
