L. M. Montgomery's Female Writing and the Parallel Study of Her Life Writing and Her Works——An Interview with Professor Janice Fiamengo

詹尼斯·菲阿门哥教授是渥太华大学文学院英语系的终身教授,身兼加拿大文学权威期刊《加拿大文学》和《加拿大文学研究》的编委,主要研究加拿大女性作家,尤其是蒙哥马利、爱丽丝·门罗和莎拉·邓肯,以及加拿大文学中重要作家的宗教观。她先后撰写和编著了《女人的一页:加拿大早期新闻学和修辞》(2008.)、《另外的自己:加拿大文学想象中的动物》(2007)、《加拿大剑桥文学史》和《反思加拿大:妇女历史的希望》(2006)等作品。2015年,笔者获得加拿大政府和中国留学基金委的"中加学者交换项目"资助,受大连外国语大学加拿大研究中心委托,在渥太华大学访学期间采访了菲阿门哥教授。访谈中菲阿门哥教授讲解了蒙哥马利作品中人物的性格魅力,从女性主义、性别角色、传统型和宗教等视角提出了非传统的独特观点,并简述了蒙哥马利接受到的文学影响,以及她对后来作家的影响。在讨论中,菲阿门哥教授澄清了关于蒙哥马利的女性写作的误解,驳斥了将其定义为女性主义作家的观点。她还强调了蒙哥马利的日记的研究价值,指出了未来的研究趋势。

Professor Janice Fiamengo is a professor of Canadian studies in University of Ottawa,and a member of the editorial board of the most distinguished journals on Canadian Literature and Studies on Canadian Literature.She has published extensively on Canadian women writers,especially L.M.Montgomery,Sara J,Duncan and Alice Munro and the treatment of Christian faith in Canadian canons.She wrote books The Woman's Page:Journalism and Rhetoric in Early Canada(2008)and was an editor of Other Selves:Animals in the Canadian Literary Imagination(2007).She also wrote some chapters on Canadian Literature in The Cambridge History of Canadian Literature(2009)and Rethinking Canada:The Promise of Women's History(2006).Wu Yang interviewed Professor Fiamengo on behalf of the Center of Canadian Studies in Dalian University of Foreign Languages in2015.In this interview,Professor Fiamengo gives a brief review of Montgomery’s universal appeal as a children’s literature writer and provides an unconventional analysis of her works in terms of feminism,gender roles,conventionalism,religion and the connection of Montgomery and her predecessors and followers.She clarifies the misunderstanding of Montgomery’s female writings,dismissing the radical classification of Montgomery into feminists.She also attaches great importance to the studies of her journals and points out some possible research topics for the future.
