摘要
本文通过分析英语学习者议论文探讨图尔敏因素的使用与英语议论文的整体质量之间的关系。结果表明,学生使用较多的是图尔敏论证模式中的两个基本因素:主张和根据,其他图尔敏因素(如反方主张、反方根据等)则使用较少,其中主张的使用与议论文整体质量具有相关性。
This study investigates the relationship between the use of Toulmin elements and the overall quality ofargumentative essays written by Chinese students.Thirty-six argumentative essays written by sophomore students ofEnglish majors from a Chinese university were analyzed.The results show that most students’argumentative essaysinclude the two basic elements of Toulmin argument model,namely,claim and data,but very few present other elementssuch as counterargument claim and counterargument data.Moreover,the use of claim is positively correlated with theoverall quality of the essays.
