Going out to Foreign Lands: the Internalization of Wushu in the Republic of China

民国时期,作为中华国粹的武术,在西方文化的冲击下,自身进行艰难地转型。走向海外,是武术转型的体现之一。精武体育会在南洋建立诸多分会,将中华武术传播到东南亚各地。中央国术馆也参与了中国武术的海外传播,中央国术馆馆长张之江率领"国术"代表团出访东南亚后,各地华侨纷纷建立武术馆、武术学校,进一步促进了武术的国际化。

Wushu,one of the quintessence of Chinese culture,experienced a hard time of transition in the Republic of China under the attack from western culture.However,to spread abroad is one way of the Wushu transition.To achieve it,Chin Woo Athletic Federation established many branches in Nanyang to spread Chinese Wushu in Southeast Asia.The Central Guoshu Institute also made effort to spread Wushu abroad.Zhang Zhijiang,the leader of the Central Guoshu Institute,formed a delegation group to visit the Southeast Asia,then,many Wushu training school were founded by overseas Chinese,which successfully promoted the internalization of Wushu.
