潮汕抗战是广东抗战的重要组成部分,也与全国乃至东南亚地区的抗日战争有着独特联系。潮汕地区因其地理位置和经济地位的重要性及其与海外潮籍华侨的紧密联系,事关抗战全局,战略地位十分重要,占领潮汕是日本侵略战争的战略组成部分,一度成为日军的重点进攻方向。潮汕抗战作为全国抗战的组成部分,其抗战经过表现出一定的独特性,不能简单地对应全国抗战的三个阶段及其时间划分,大致分为:1937年8月至1941年8月的对战略要地的攻防和争夺阶段,1941年9月至1944年夏的相持阶段,1944年秋至1945年8月的正面战场全面溃败、敌后抗战广泛兴起阶段。潮汕抗战在策应主要战场、牵制敌人兵力、保有局部抗战后方、向南方各省输送战略物资、接纳东南亚华侨等方面发挥了重要作用,为持久抗战并最后取得胜利做出了独特的历史贡献。

The anti-Japanese war in Chaoshan was an important part of the anti-Japanese war in Guangdong.It also had unique connection with the national anti-Japanese war,and even with Southeast Asia.Because of the geography,the economic significance and its close connection with overseas Chinese,Chaoshan area played an important strategic role in the anti-Japanese war.As a result,occupation of Chaoshan was one strategicpart of Japanese invasion and was once the focus of Japanese army’s attack.As one part of the anti-Japanese war,the war in Chaoshan was somewhat unique and did not correspond to the three stages and time segment of the national anti-Japanese war.It could be roughly divided into stages like these:the stage of attacking,defensing and struggling for important strategic places from August1934to August1941,the stalemate stage from September1941to the summer in1944,the stage of all-round shellacking in frontal battlefield and the extensive rise of theanti-Japanese war in the enemy’s rear area from the fall in1944to August1945.The anti-Japanese war in Cha?oshanplayedanimportantroleincoordinatingmainbattlefields,keepingtheenemy’sforcesatbay,preservingre?gional rear areas during the war,dispatching materiel to other provinces in the south,accepting overseas Chinese from Southeast Asia.It made unique historical contribution to the success of the protracted anti-Japanese war.
