《诸蕃志》是我国首部系统记述海上丝绸之路的志书,它翔实记载了当时所知海外国家和地区的地理、交通、物产、风俗、国际贸易等,是宋人了解海外情况与从事海外贸易的重要参考,是今人研究古代中外关系与海上丝绸之路的重要文献。《诸蕃志》的译注是一项跨国工程,1911年德国汉学家夏德和美国汉学家柔克义合译成英文本,在西方反响热烈;经数代中国学人的引介,译注最终回归中国,先后有冯承钧《诸蕃志校注》、韩振华《诸蕃志注补》、杨博文《诸蕃志校释》出版,充分反映了中西文化交流与志书的顽强生命力。
Zhu Fan Records was the first set of local records in which the maritime silk road was systematically recorded. It recorded in detail the geography,transportation,produce,customs,and international trades with overseas countries and regions known at that time,and was an important source of references for people of the Song Dynasty to learn about overseas information and to engage in the overseas trade. It is also an important set of reference literature for current research about Sino-foreign relations and the maritime silk road in ancient time. The translation and annotation of Zhu Fan Records was a transnational project. In 1911,German Sinologist Friedrich Hirth and American Sinologist William W. Rockhill jointly translated the book into English,which was warmly received in the West. Through the introduction effort of several generations of Chinese scholars,the translated and annotated work was finally came to China.Feng Chengjun's Zhu Fan Records Collation and Annotation,Han Zhenhua's Zhu Fan Records Annotation Supplements,and Yang Bowen's Zhu Fan Records Collation Explanations were published one by one,fully reflecting the tenacious vitality of local records and cultural exchanges between China and the West.
