In order to study the effects of temperature(24,27,30and33℃)and salinity(15,20,25,30and33)on oxygen consumption rate(OCR)and ammonia excretion rate(AER)of juvenile Epinephelus groupers in repletion and hunger, the OCR and AER were examined with the method of closed flow respiration experiment. The results showed that both in repletion and hunger, the OCR and AER of juvenile Epinephelus groupers were affected by temperature and salinity significantly(P<0.05);when the temperature was24℃-33℃,the OCR and AER in repletion were respectively30.29%-131.84%and131.82%-316.19%more than in hunger. In repletion,O∶N,Protein-supplying ratio(PSR),Q10(respiration)and Q10(excretion)were12.54-20.18,27.74%-48.48%,1.21and1.60respectively,and in hunger,25.77-35.90,19.49%-27.19%,1.87and3.41respectively;when the salinity was15-33,the OCR and AER in repletion were respectively100.41%-128.21%and182.19%-382.83%more than in hunger. In repletion,O∶N and PSR were13.32-20.72and39.47%-49.42%respectively,and in hunger,29.18-30.98and22.59%-23.98%respectively.The study showed that the optimum growth temperature of juvenile Epinephelus groupers was24℃-27℃,and the optimum growth salinity was30-33.
