美国私立大学的成功经验对我国地方性高校建设的启示——以哥伦比亚大学为例

The Enlightenment of the Successful Experience of American Private Universities to the Construction of Local Colleges and Universities in China:Taking Columbia University as an Example

哥伦比亚大学是美国著名的私立研究型大学,虽与我国地方性高校的性质不同,但其在面对资金困难时的筹资方式、独特的通识教育理念及其校友文化等等对我国地方性高校建设有着重要的启示。本文概述了哥伦比亚大学成功的若干经验,并针对我国地方性高校的特点提出发展策略:发展校友文化,开拓教育资源的来源;本科教育办出特色;不拘于模式,抓通识教育的重点。

Columbia University is a well-known private research-oriented university in the United States.Its nature is differentfrom the nature of local colleges and universities in China,but its financing methods in the face of financial difficulties,uniquegeneral education concept and alumni culture can serve asan important enlightenment to the construction of local collegesand universities in China.This paper summarizes the successfulexperience of Columbia University,and puts forward the developmentstrategies in accordance with the characteristics of localcolleges and universities in China:developing alumni culture andexpanding the sources of educational resources;running characteristicundergraduate education;getting rid of stereotypes andfocusing on general education.
