摘要
美国学者让·莫里根《琵琶记》英译本整体上受到西方学者的高度肯定,被认为是"翻译中国戏剧作品的典范"。本文从深度翻译和副文本理论视角探讨莫译《琵琶记》是如何通过译文前、译文中、译文后的大量副文本以及异化翻译策略向目的语读者有效地传达原文本中丰富的文化内涵和南戏独特的艺术形式,并讨论其对中国戏曲"走出去"的启示。
The English version of Nanxi(Southern Drama南戏)Pipa Ji with the title of The Lute:Kao Ming’s P’i-p’a chi had translated by Jean Mulligan,an American scholar.The work has been hailed as“a model for future translations of Chinese dramas”in Western academia.This paper probes into the translation strategies of Mulligan's English version of from the perspective of the thick translation and the paratext theory.Mr.Mulligan effectively conveys the rich cultural connotation and the unique artistic forms of the classical dramas in south China by means of many paratexts and foreignizing translation strategy to the target language readers.The enlightenment on the“Going out”of classical Chinese dramas is also discussed in this paper.
