A Little-known Tribe:A Comprehensive Survey of Sri Lankan's Vedda

基于红河学院与佩拉德尼亚大学国际科研合作课题"中国莽人族群与斯里兰卡维达部落经济社会发展比较研究"课题需要,课题组成员赴斯里兰卡维达部落进行田野调查。文章重点调查了维达部落人口分布和居住环境、宗教祭礼和婚丧礼俗以及斯里兰卡政府对维达部落扶贫搬迁和传统文化的保护与利用情况。由于受斯里兰卡扶贫搬迁政策和外界现代化元素的影响,维达部落生产生活、民族文化发生了变化,但依然保留了许多原始痕迹。

according to the research need of“comparative study on economic and social development between mang ethnic groups in China and Vedda tribes in Sri Lanka”which is signed by Honghe University and the University of Peradeniya,Members of the project group went to the Vedda tribe in Sri Lanka to conduct field surveys.This paper focuses on the investigation of population distribution,living environment,religious ceremonies and funeral customs on Vedda tribe,and the situation of Sri Lankan government's poverty alleviation and relocation,as well as the protection and utilization of traditional culture of the Vedda tribe.Due to the relocation of poverty policy of Sri Lanka government and the moder elements,although the production and life,the culture of the Vedda tribe has changed,they still retains many original trace.
