加拿大地域幅员辽阔、民族构成复杂,其文学在欧美势力的夹缝中生存,呈现了区域性、边缘化、多元共存的特点。自20世纪60年代末期开始,一批研究后现代主义的加拿大学者,试图用具有鲜明的加拿大特色的后现代主义文学作品,逐渐淡化、消解欧洲中心论和西方中心论,促使处于边缘地带的后殖民文学移向中心,争取了世界当代文学的话语权。

Canada has a vast territory and a complex ethnic composition.Canadian literature survives in the cracks of European and American forces,presenting the characteristics of regionality,marginality and pluralistic coexistence.From the late1960s,a group of Canadian scholars who studied postmodernism tried to use the postmodernist literary works with distinctive Canadian characteristics to gradually fade out the European Center and the Western Center,to promote the post-colonial literature in the fringe to the center,and to fight for the right to speak in the world's contemporary literature.
