In the middle of the huge semi-1)circular 2)fa?ade of the building of the General Staff headquarters stands a 3)monumental 4)triumphal 5)arch. On its top at the height of 28 metres stands the statue of the Goddess of Victory. The Triumphal Arch is directly opposite the fa?ade of the Winter Palace. A 50-metre high 6)granite 7)column rises at its 8)axle, which was 9)erected in memory of the Russian victory over the troops of Napoleon.
