This paper summarized the method of collecting historical map data. The paper discussed the meaning of collecting historical map data, information sources, selection key and the acquire channels from three aspects, such as the investigation and research of collecting historical maps, the method and procedure and the differences between historical maps and modern maps. Finally, this paper analyzed the differences between historical maps and modern maps.
