China's Ministry of Land and Resources released the first batch of rare earth mining quotas in 2017, according to an announcement on the ministry's website. The total mining amount for the first batch is 52,500 tonnes, equal to the number in 2016. Out of the 52,500 tonnes, there are 43,550 tonnes for light rare earths and 8,950 tonnes for medium and heavy rare earths.
