This paper introduces the concept of multimodal teaching design for college English intensive reading classes as well as the concept of"learning by design".It makes a case study of an English class,showing that English intensive reading classes designed on the theory of multimodal teaching are helpful in enhancing the linguistic and integrative abilities of students.
