摘要
中医文献里含有大量的3词及3词以上的多词术语,由于它们是文言语体,用词简洁,加上中医深奥难懂,理解时会产生歧义,其英译并非易事。本文介绍了中医术语英译的现状,分析了中医多词术语的语言和文化特点,指出了中医多词术语常用翻译方法导致英译用词过多和结构过长的不足,阐明了采用语素构词和结构转换来英译中医多词术语的方法。这对于"一带一路"背景下中医文化走出去具有较大的应用价值。
TCM literature is abounded with numerous multi-word TCM terms of3or more words.The English translation of those multi-word TCM terms is not an easy job due to the Chinese classics and concisness and ambiguity in the understanding of the inscrutable TCM language.This paper first reviews the current situation of the English translation of TCM terms and addresses the linguistic and cultural features of multi-word TCM terms;Then it points out the disadvantages of redundant words and long structures in the usual English translation of multi-word TCM terms;finally it illustrates the methods of morpheme-based translation and stucture shift in the English translation of multi-word TCM terms,which is highly significant for the“going global”policy of the TCM and its culture in the context of“One Belt,One Road”.
