Experience and inspiration from the special exhibition "My dear, I am old"

面对老龄化社会带来的冲击,作为社会教育机构的博物馆,必须更加关注高龄观众的需求,并向对相关议题感兴趣的观众提供适合的交流空间。博物馆具备安全友善、多元学习的环境,以同理心来服务高龄观众,从“成功老化”的角度提供更多的资源,让高龄者获得“社会支持”,包括学习新知、欣赏文艺、参与社会活动和提升尊严与自信的机会。“亲爱的,我老了”系列特展呈现了老龄化社会现状、银色产业发展趋势和各种活跃老化的精彩案例,希冀改变大家对“老”的偏见,并反思生命的意义。参观此展仿佛经历生命历程,模拟体验老年生活,挑战视力、感官、体力、记忆退化的情境,想象未来白发假牙、老花眼镜、轮椅代步、机器照护、临终话别的日常生活场景。由高龄者担任解说志工,让导览更具说服力。透过特展在博物馆内的展出情况,分析其所带来的影响与启发。

Facing more and more issues about aging life in an aging society,museums,with social education as one of their major missions,have been concerned with the needs of elderly people and trying to satisfy visitors who have interest in such issues.Museums offer a safe,amiable and proper setting of study for various aims in this field.And with enough understanding and compassion,they have been making efforts to provide related resources so as to help elderly people gain“social support”and enjoy“successful aging”,such as learning new knowledge,appreciating literature and art,participating in social activities,exploring the course of life and obtaining dignity and self-confidence.This special exhibition highlights the reality of aging society,the thriving trend of silver industry and good examples of making aging life active,vigorous and full of fun,hoping to help change the deep rooted negative attitude toward aging process and fill aging life with more positive meaning.Visitors of any age-group can experience and challenge,in this exhibition,the entire course of aging process,including the failure of body,eyesight,sensory perception and memory,with white hair,false teeth,reading glasses and machine care,sitting in wheelchairs,bidding final farewell to relatives and friends.The elderly voluntary interpreters on the sites help make the visitors’experiences more moving and convincing.This essay gives a brief account of the exhibition and elucidates its significance and influence.
