Module or Modelling? The Reflection on the Construction Meaning of Module System in the Western Classical Architecture and Ancient Chinese Architecture

模数制度是建筑生产工业化的基本问题。文章通过分析西方古典建筑模数与中国古代建筑材份制度的构成方式、结构特征、美学原理和建造意义,回顾模数制度在我国建设实践中的发展历程和现状,以此促进对我国现行建筑模数协调标准认识的再思考。

Modular system is one of the essential issues in building industrialization.Through analyzing the module of Western Classical architecture and Cai-fen system of ancient Chinese architecture in terms of construction forms,structural features,aesthetic principles and construction significance,and reviewing the evolution and current situation of modular system in of construction practice in China,this paper encouranges rethinking on the operating standards of modular system in China.
