居延汉简札记一则

A Research Note of Juyan Wooden Strips

台湾出版《居延汉简》85.28简有"膏果"一词,旧释"高果",且未释其义。"中研院"史语所简牍整理小组隶定作"膏果",此说可从。"膏果"在简牍中仅一见,《汉语大词典》未收,传世文献也未见相关记载。我们认为,"果"当读为"輠",义为"盛膏器"。"膏果"即"膏輠",是指车舆上一种盛放膏油的器皿。此外,该简有"车伏"一词,"伏"字形作"休",传世文献不见"车休",字书中也无相关记载,"休""伏"两字或是形近而讹。

the term gaoguo(冑果)exhibited in the cataloguing book named Juyan wooden strips published in Taiwan,which was interpreted as gaoguo(高果)previously.And its meaning'was inaccessible.The team from Institution of History and Language in Tai'wan proofread the characters as gaoguo(骨果),wThich is credible.Gaoguo(骨果)appears only once in the strips'which wTas not included in The Great Chinese Dictionary and the extant documents.We hold the point that guo(果)should be read as guo(輠),the meaning of gaoguo(骨線)is a kind of vessel that was used for oil to lubricate the carriage.In addition,these is also a word called chefu(车伏)exhibits in this strip,'whose character form is chexiu(车休),unlike gaoguo(骨果),'we could not find any clues to chexiu(车休)in the extant masterpieces and dictionaries.It is possible that the character xiu(休)'was'wrongly'written as fu(伏)because of their similar forms.
