The Development Pattern of Recreational Space along the Banks of London Regent's Canal and Its Reflections

随着运河传统航运功能的弱化,运河沿岸游憩空间的塑造逐渐成为国内众多城市开发和保护运河遗产的重要途径,但其同时也面临着如何真正融入周边社区邻里乃至整个城市的日常生活这一关键问题。以伦敦摄政运河为例,分析总结其沿岸游憩空间发展模式:城河一体的跨河市集开发;阴阳相生的临河景观建筑布局;多元立体的通河游憩路线架构;亲疏有序的沿河绿地组织。在此基础上提出对中国城市运河沿岸游憩空间组织的策略建议。

With the weakening of canal's traditional function as shipping corridors,greater importance has been attached to shaping recreational space along the banks of canals which has been adopted by many local authorities as an important approach to developing and protecting canal heritages.However,how to integrate into the daily life of neighborhoods and even the whole city has always remained a key issue confronting the development of recreational space along the banks of canals.Taking London Regent's Canal as an example,this paper summarizes the development pattern of its recreational space which includes four aspects:1)the development of cross-canal market integrating the canal into city's daily life;2)the Chinese yin-yang layout of landscape architecture along the canal;3)the construction of stereoscopic recreational routine providing easy access to the canal;and4)the density-varying and orderly organization of green space along the canal.Based on the case study,the paper finally puts forward some suggestions for the development and organization of recreational space along the banks of canals in China.
