清朝末期,"女公民"的主张由康有为首次提出,中国近代史上第一份真正意义上的女报《女学报》几乎也是在同一时期诞生。可以说,中国近代女报是伴随着女权主义发展而产生的,它不仅是女权运动的"见证者",更是女权运动的"亲历者"。当时的女报在宣传女权思想、推动妇女解放等发面发挥了重要作用,极大地推动了"女公民"思想在我国的传播。同时,女报的兴盛或衰微也映射了我国近代政治、文化、思想的走向和态势。这使得女报研究为后人研究中国近代女权主义发展,乃至中国近代思想运动的发展提供了一个独特的视角。
