The Present and Future of Chinese Migrants in Ireland:An Analysis of Population Statistics

论文回顾了爱尔兰中国移民的历史变迁,对爱尔兰中国移民的数量进行了统计与估算,分析了中国移民的人口特征与分布特点,并探讨了中国移民人数减少的原因。认为爱尔兰的中国移民人口在2006年达到最高峰,经历欧洲经济衰退后,中国移民的人口出现下降态势。由于爱尔兰中国移民生育率远低于爱尔兰平均生育率,经济危机对中国移民居留爱尔兰造成不利影响,而中国留学生又因诸多因素的影响不愿久居爱尔兰。因此,中国移民人数将在近期内保持稳定而略有减少的趋势,人口素质则有所提升,这标志着中国移民的模式日趋接近发达国家的模式。

This article examines the historical changes of Chinese migrants in Ireland.Based on the statistics and estimates of population,it analyzes the features of demographic properties and distribution patterns,and furthermore concludes the reasons for declining population of Chinese migrants in Ireland.Ireland’s Chinese migrants reached its population peak at2006.Afterward,along with the economic recession in Europe,it shows a declining trend.The Total Fertility Rate(TFR)of Chinese migrants is far lower than the average TFR of Ireland.The economic crisis has adversely affected Chinese migrants’staying in Ireland,and Chinese overseas student are reluctant to be permanently residents in Ireland.Therefore,the Chinese migrants population in Ireland indicates a relatively stable and a slowly declining trend.However,the quality of life will be improved,and this represents that the pattern of Chinese migration is increasingly closed to the model of developed countries.
