刘慈欣曾在采访中说,自己最尊敬的科幻小说作家为阿瑟·克拉克,《三体》的发表也有致敬偶像的含义。且在创作作品时,刘慈欣会沿用阿瑟·克拉克的部分观点,《三体》受其影响较大,主要体现在创作内容的科学性、文学形象种族性与世界性,以及美学风格自然美与伦理美三个方面。

Liu Cixin once said in an interview that his most respected science fiction writer was Arthur Clarke,and the publication of The Three Body also has the meaning of saluting to his icon.While creating his work,Liu Cixin follows part of Arthur Clarke’s views.The Three Body is greatly influenced by Arthur Clarke,mainly reflecting in the following three aspects:the scientificity of the creation content,the ethnicity and world feature of the literary image,and the natural and ethical beauty of the aesthetic style.
