English,as an important global language,plays an important part in international trade and business in today’s increasingly-globalized world.As a compulsory course for English majors,basic English occupies a fundamental position for cultivating English talents in application-oriented universities.This paper will analyze and discuss the existing problems with basic English teaching for English majors in application-oriented university,and provide solutions which are in line with school-running characteristics,so that we can continuously promote the teaching reform of English major courses and achieve the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation by delivering a large number of high-quality application-oriented English talents.
