关于中国诗歌典籍英译标准的思考——以《诗经》英译为例

Consideration on the Standard of English Translation of Chinese Classical Poetry——A Case Study of the Translations of The Book of Poetry

中国诗歌典籍英译是中国典籍英译的一项重要内容。诗歌翻译难,诗歌典籍翻译更是难上加难,因为诗歌典籍是文学加文献。从许渊冲和理雅各的《诗经》英译本出发,来探讨中国诗歌典籍英译的标准,认为中国诗歌典籍英译应兼顾文学性与文献性的统一。

The study on translation of Chinese classical poetry is an important part of the study on translation of Chinese classics.It’s difficult to translate poetry,and it’s doubly difficult to translate classical poetry because it is both literary and documentary.This paper aims to explore the standard of English Translation of Chinese Classical Poetry from the discussion of Xu Yuanchong’s and James Legge’s versions of The Book of Poetry,and then makes a conclusion that both literariness and documentary nature should be considered in translating Chinese classical poetry.
