《乌鸦》中忧郁的认知诗学解读

A Cognitive Poetic Approach to Appreciate Melancholy in The Raven

作为一种新兴的文学阅读理论,认知诗学认为审美情感不仅仅是基于文本内容而得出的抽象判断,而且是一种动态的情感体验过程,审美情感体验在诗歌形式中是有迹可循的。文章从认知诗学角度出发,探讨爱伦·坡的代表作《乌鸦》一诗中的审美情感,通过从韵律、意象、修辞三个方面分析《乌鸦》中的忧郁情感以及读者感知审美忧郁的动态过程。分析发现诗人通过诗歌形式提升诗作的忧郁情调,《乌鸦》诗作的忧郁基调并非是抽象的概念,而是有迹可循的情感。由此可见,认知诗学为理解诗歌审美情感打开了又一扇门。

As a new literary reading theory,Cognitive Poetics holds that aesthetic emotion is not merely a rational judgment derived from the content of text but is a dynamic emotional experience which is perceivable in poetic forms.This paper explores the perceived aesthetic emotion in The Raven,the masterpiece of Allan Poe,in terms of rhyme schemes,images and rhetorical devices,so as to reveal how the poetic forms have given rise to the melancholy theme and the dynamic process of readers'perceptions of melancholy from Cognitive Poetics perspective.It is demonstrated that Allan Poe has skillfully employed poetic forms to reinforce the melancholy quality.The melancholy tone in The Raven is not an abstract concept but a perceivable emotion.Cognitive Poetics,without a doubt,is alternative approach to the study of aesthetic emotion in poetry.
