摘要
世界船舶海事行业发展迅速,新的规则、规范和指南不断得以颁布。但国内有关机构与专家对"规则、规范、规定"等词语的英文表述却出现了选词不当的现象。以中国船级社、中国国家标准局以及船舶行业协会关于"规则、规范、规定"的英译版本为研究对象,参照国际海事组织(IMO)、国际船级社协会(IACS)和国际标准化组织(ISO)等重要机构的英译版本,通过查找英文权威辞典,分析归纳了表示"规则、规范、规定"的各个英文单词在约束力、适用领域等内涵方面的差别及习惯用法,以促进中国船舶及海事行业技术标准的英译规范化和国际化。
With the rapid development of shipbuilding and maritime industry,new codes and rules have been implemented.However,translations of some administrative organizations of ship industry are not proper in terms of lexical meaning and grammar.This paper takes the codes and rules of CCS and GB as the objective of study,by referring to the Codes or Rules of IMO,IACS and ISO and some other major organizations,and consulting the authoritative English dictionaries.It summarizes the differences among these words,including their binding effects,application scopes and the idiomatic usage in order to promote academic exchange and internationalization of the technical standards of ship industry.
