“人内传播”再商榷

Revisiting Intrapersonal Communication

"人内传播"是我国传播学的五大范畴之一,这一概念尽管出现于早期的西方传播学,但从20世纪90年代开始,便从西方传播学的经典文献中逐渐消失。我国学者林之达、董天策等人在90年代曾对我国传播学界使用这一概念提出质疑,但没有引起学界的反响。"人内传播"在我国逐渐形成了自己的理论体系,认为在人体内可以形成一个传播系统,可以形成"主我""客我"对话的互动传播模式。从认知心理学、哲学等学科研究成果来看,在人体内形成传播系统的说法基本上不能成立,这一理论对于人类大脑思维活动的理解有简单化和二元化之嫌,与当今世界研究身心问题趋向于一元化的立场相悖,其依据符号互动理论所建立的人内传播模式与米德所提出的社会理论亦是背道而驰。据此,"人内传播"这一概念不能成立。

The concept of“intrapersonal communication”,regarded as one of the five major categories of communication in China,came from early western communication studies,but since the beginning of the 1990s,it has been gradually removed from the classic literature in the west.Despite the questioning about the category of intrapersonal communication by Chinese scholars such as Lin Zhida,Dong Tiance,it failed to arouse enough attention.On the contrary,theories about intrapersonal communication have gradually formulated in China,holding that there is a sufficient communication system in human body,in which“subjective me”converses with“objective me”in an interactive communication model.However,viewed from the research findings from disciplines like cognitive psychology and philosophy,the inner communication system formed in the human body can hardly be established,with the defects of being too simple and dualistic in the understanding of mental activities,which is contradictory to the current international trend of monistic approach to human mental and psychological issues.In addition,the symbolic interaction theory as the theoretical base for intrapersonal communication is against Mead’s social theory.In view of this,the concept“intrapersonal communication”cannot be established.
