Different Style, Identical Role——The Cross and Confluence of Songbiao and Songxu

表和序是两种不同的文体,颂表、颂序均为配合颂体而作的文字。二者在文体属性方面并无多少联系,但当它们均置于颂体之前、服务于颂体时,就不可避免地在内容上有所交叉。正因如此,为了避免内容上的重复,古人在作颂时,有时会省略其中之一,而这尤以略去表只存序的情况居多,从而使颂序兼有表与序的两种功能。

Biao and Xu are two different types of literary form,and Songbiao and Songxu are written for servicing Song.There is not much connection between Songbiao and Songxu in stylistic attribute.But when they are placed in the front of the Song and serve the Song,they inevitably cross their contents.For this reason,in order to avoid duplication of content,sometimes the ancients omitted one of them when composing Song,and especially the case of omitting Biao and saving Xu is the majority,so that Songxu has two kinds of features,that is,Biao and Xu.
